Tuesdays are for Teaching Artists: Diana Lawrence

Teaching Artist Diana Lawrence

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means? Tuesdays are for Teaching ArtistsMeet Diana Lawrence (she/her/hers), a Music Director teaching artist with TADA! Youth Theater.

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Diana now resides in Chicago.

Get to know Diana a little better with this fun Q&A!

I love that TADA recognizes the essential relationship between excellent musical theatre, arts education and social justice.

Musical Theatre is perhaps the most American art form there is. There is nothing more important than giving the next generation of American storytellers the tools and confidence and they need to joyfully express themselves and, in doing so, joyfully show the world what’s important to them. We need to hear the stories and voices of young people, from all backgrounds, now and always.

Finding ways to creatively pass along my knowledge to others, while celebrating human creativity with other humans.

“Thank You for Being A Friend” (Golden Girls Theme), because we all need friends right now more than ever.

I’ve always loved Harriet the Spy, because I’m always observing people and asking myself questions about them and their stories. Though I hope no one finds my (proverbial) notebook!
