J. Chalmers Browne

Chalmers has served on TADA!’s Board since 2009, and has been President since 2015, after two years as Treasurer. Professionally, he is a Technical Program Manager at Google, and he previously worked in technology at Citibank and the Theater Development Fund, among other employers. He was a founding member of the Liminal Stage, a showcase theater company that was active from 1992-1995, and was revived in 1998 to produce a month-long run of Doctor Faustus at the Culture Project. In 1996, he and partners opened the first internet cafe in NYC: The Heroic Sandwich @ 36 E 4th Street, offering a single PC, 128K ISDN, comic books, and pb&j with the crusts cut off. It was also the first internet cafe to close in NYC.  For many years Chalmers has been a volunteer softball and soccer coach and division commissioner with Peter Stuyvessant Little League and Manhattan Kickers Soccer Club, and he is a licensed USSF youth soccer referee.  All of these activities are tolerated, supported and/or participated in by his amazing wife Sarah and his four high-school and college-age children.
