LYNN AHRENS


Lynn Ahrens has provided lyrics (and sometimes book) for an array of notable Broadway and off-Broadway musicals, as well as original songs for television. Her work includes Ragtime, Once On This Island, Seussical, Rocky, My Favorite Year, A Man of No Importance, Madison Square Garden’s A Christmas Carol, the animated feature film Anastasia, the Broadway musical Anastasia, Schoolhouse Rock (ABC-TV) and more. She’s won the Tony Award, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Olivier and the Emmy Award, and has been nominated for two Academy Awards, two Golden Globes and four Grammys. She has worked with composer Stephen Flaherty since 1983, making their collaboration one of the longest and most productive in theater history. She serves on Council for the Dramatists Guild of America and co-founded the DGF Fellows Program for Emerging Writers, which has nurtured new generations of playwrights and musical theater writers since 2000. In 2014, she and Flaherty received the Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement, and in 2015, they were inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame.
