General Manager Job Description
TADA! Youth Theater seeks a full-time General Manager. For three decades, TADA!, a non-profit organization, has enabled young people from different racial, economic and social backgrounds the opportunity to explore and perform musical theater together in an educational, supportive, and professional environment. TADA!'s mission is twofold: to present high-quality musical theater productions performed by talented kids for family audiences; and to provide a safe, creative and nurturing place where kids can harness their inherent energy, build their self-esteem and realize their true potential through the unique collaborative art form that is musical theater.
The key programs at TADA! are: Three annual, original main stage musicals professionally produced for family audiences at affordable prices and performed by members of The Resident Youth Ensemble; a completely free year-round pre-professional performing, training and youth development program for 70-80 kids ages 8-18 renowned in- and after-school arts education residencies that enhance curriculum and community ideals at schools and community centers; and on-site theater classes and camps for children ages 2 to 14, taught by seasoned theater Teaching Artists, for which need-based scholarships are provided for up to 20% of participants.
The General Manager will be responsible for:
Financial Management including but not limited to budgeting, cash flow projections and management, bookkeeping, audit preparation, and legal compliance to funders and government. The GM also issues and executes contracts to outside artists, consultants and other vendors on behalf of the theater.
Strategic Planning, in partnership with Executive & Artistic Director and other senior staff, including but not limited to determining the long-range financial, artistic, marketing and facilities objectives, management of day-to-day operation of the administration
Administrative Management including but not limited to oversight of the Administrative Assistant, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, overseeing implementation, development and efficiency of organization systems (i.e. Salesforce Database), etc.
Personnel Management including but not limited to oversight of the administrative staff, personnel contracts, hours and files, human resources, knowledge in and compliance with labor statutes hiring and training, benefits arrangements and communication, facilitating communication among staff members, and setting and enforcing HR and fiscal policies and standards.
Facility Management including but not limited to oversight of Theater Manager, compliance in fire, health and building statutes; liaising with landlord/building superintendent.
And other duties that include trouble-shooting personnel, production, facility or administrative issues or involve the management of the theater as a whole.
The position provides stewardship for the 30+ year old company. The ideal candidate must be fully aligned with the mission and objectives of TADA! Youth Theater, be extremely detail-oriented; a creative and practical problem-solver; and a collaborative worker, who can be both a leader and a "do-er" while rolling with the punches in a fast-paced environment all with a consistently positive attitude and hands on, "can-do" approach.
5+ years experience in non-profit management, preferably in the performing arts;
Strong experience in non-profit finance, reporting, projecting, auditing and budget process through
Experience in Google Apps platform and Salesforce a plus
Strong inter-personal communications skills
An extremely detail-oriented self-starter who possess excellent skills in time-management and efficiency
Bachelor's Degree (advanced degree a plus).
Reports to Executive & Artistic Director.

TADA!'s internship program offers students a hands-on opportunity to learn about the operations of a renowned youth theater and arts education organization. Artistic Intern: TADA! seeks an Artistic Intern to join our team. Intern will report directly to the Executive & Artistic Director, Janine Nina Trevens. An excellent opportunity to gain experience in the administrative aspects of a performing arts organization. Intern must be organized, computer proficient in MS Office software and Google Docs, able to multi-task, and possess the ability to function with a wide range of personalities and age ranges. We are also currently seeking an Assistant Director for our summer musical. The position requires working with youth and teens while assisting in rehearsals and Ensemble events. Education Intern: TADA! is seeking Education Interns to support TADA!'s renowned arts education work through arts administration and/or direct teaching artist opportunities. In addition to providing hands-on assistance and observation of our Education Programs, interns will learn how to create, manage and produce effective theater programming for youth. Interns are expected to have a commitment to theater and education, provide administrative support to the Education staff, be well organized and have strong attention to detail, demonstrate computer proficiency, and commit to a consistent schedule for at least one month. Production Intern: TADA! is looking for a Production Intern to join our team in providing assistance to our Production Department while learning about the operation of a youth theater from a production standpoint. Intern will report directly to the production supervisor and works closely with all production staff members. Intern should possess demonstrated computer skills, preferably with MS Word and Excel, and interact successfully with a wide range of personalities including staff, artists, volunteers, parents and a cast of kids, on the phone and in person. Internship is unpaid, however additional paid opportunities may be available. College credit available.
